Yamaha produces WaveRunner models with both two-stroke and four-stroke engines. YamaLube 4-W 10w-40 engine oil is specifically formulated for use in Yamaha's four-stroke WaveRunner engines. YamaLube 2-W semi-synthetic engine oil is mixed directly with gasoline for all of Yamaha's WaveRunners that feature two-stroke engines. YamaLube products may not be available in all markets. If it is not available, other oil brands can be used if they meet certain specifications.

2010 Yamaha WaveRunner SuperJet

The Yamaha WaveRunner SuperJet has a two-cycle engine. This type of oil must be mixed directly with the gasoline that goes into the SuperJet fuel tank. Yamaha recommends YamaLube 2-W semi-synthetic engine oil. If YamaLube 2-W is not available to you, Yamaha recommends any other synthetic two-cycle engine oil that is a NMMA-certified TC-W3 rated engine oil. The label on the oil bottle should state the certification conspicuously.

2010 Yamaha WaveRunner VX Sport, VX Deluxe and VX Cruiser

The 2010 Yamaha WaveRunner VX Sport, VX Deluxe and VX Cruiser models are designed with four-stroke engines and use YamaLube 4-W engine oil. The following oil weights can be used in these WaveRunner models: SAE (Society of Automobile Engineers) 10w-30, 10w-40, 20w-40 and 20w-50. The recommended oil grades include API (American Petroleum Institute) SE, SF, SG, SH, SJ and SL. Know these requirements in order to choose another oil brand if YamaLube is not available.

2009 Yamaha WaveRunner FX High Output and FX Cruiser High Output

The 2009 Yamaha WaveRunner FX High Output and FX Cruiser High Output models also use four-stroke engines. Using two-cycle engine oil instead of four-cycle engine oil in these and any other four-stroke engines, may cause severe engine damage and possible engine failure. The following four-cycle engine oils can safely be used in these Waverunner models: SAE 10w-30, 10w-40, 20w-40 and 20w-50. These oils should meet the same API standards as the 2010 Yamaha WaveRunner VX Sport, VX Deluxe and VX Cruiser.

2009 Yamaha WaveRunner FZR

The 2009 Yamaha WaveRunner FZR requires the same engine oil as the FX High Output and FX Cruiser High Output. As long as the engine oil you use meets the specifications, it is safe to use in your WaveRunner.
