Tying fishing line to a cane pole is not hard, but there is more to the process than just tying the line to the end of the pole. If the line is tied to the end of the pole, this puts a lot of pressure on the tip of the pole and makes it a lot more likely for the cane pole to break and for your fish to get away.
Items you will need
Cane pole
Fishing line
Tie a half hitch knot about 2 feet from the end of the pole.
Move the fishing line toward the tip of the cane pole and tie another half hitch 6 inches above the first half hitch knot.
Continue tying half hitch knots every 6 inches up the pole until you reach the tip. Tie a couple half hitch knots at the tip of the pole.
Measure the remaining fishing line from the top of the cane pole to the bottom. Cut the fishing line about a foot past the bottom of the pole. Whenever you go fishing you can trim the line as needed.
