RV Parks in Cannon Beach, Oregon

by Nan Kimberling

Cannon Beach, Oregon has often been compared to the beautiful seaside community of Carmel, California. This unique community located on the Pacific Ocean boasts nine miles of seaside beach, proximity to attractions such as Haystack Rock and Needles, Tillamook Dairy, and Lewis and Clark National Historic Park and a quaint downtown with original shops and eateries. RV travelers can find lodging options here year around to hook up at for either a quick vacation or a longer extended stay.

Located just two and a half blocks from downtown Cannon Beach and the shoreline, the year round Sea Ranch RV Park and Stables offers full and partial hookup sites to accommodate RV travelers with units measuring up to 40 feet. With the Ecola Creek wandering through the property and passing the horse stables, Sea Ranch still finds room for the Sundance Wellness Center with sauna, acupuncture and massage services. Wright's for Camping

Wright's for Camping is a small 19-site family run campground with non pull-through wooded sites without hookups that are available for small self-contained RV units (such as Class B RVs less than 16-feet long). Because this campground has no hookups the daily rate is economical at $27 per campsite. Walking distance to the beach and the thick fern laden woods providing backdrop make this the classic camping experience for the small length RV traveler who does not want to pay for or use a variety of technological or recreational amenities. Nehalem Bay State Park

For the RV traveler who wishes to spend vacation time in Cannon Beach but wishes to use Oregon State Park and Recreation facilities, the closest state park campground is 16 miles south in Rockaway Beach in the 265-electrical-site Nehalem Bay State Park campground. Units up to 60 feet are accommodated in most sites. Complete with horse camp, bike trails and bay side ocean kayaking this is a popular park system campground located directly on the bay's beach. Daily rates for electrical hook-up campsites are $24 plus park entrance day use fee if the RV traveler does not have a parks system permit. This is a great option close to Cannon Beach during the heavy summer season when the in-town RV parks fill up with reservation campers.
