How to Wire a Lowrance Transducer

Boaters utilize sonar units and fish finders for a variety of reasons. A sonar unit with a transducer can peer under the water and inform the driver of depth, water temperature and underwater topography, as well as help discover where the fish are hiding. Lowrance is a popular brand of sonar units and fish finders that make many models designed to help the boat owner navigate all types of waters and locate fertile fishing grounds. There are many different methods of mounting transducers on your boat including depending on the model and type of sonar unit you purchase, but all Lowrance transducers come pre-wired and need only be connected to the main unit to receive power and begin feeding information to the user.

Drill a minimum 5/8-inch hole in the dash where the unit will be mounted to allow enough space for the transducer wires to pass through.

Mount the transducer in the desired location prior to connecting the attached cables. Follow the manufacturer's transducer mounting instructions that pertain to your desired mount method and location.

Run the attached transducer wires to the sonar unit via a path that keeps the cables out of normal activity areas such as along the inside driver's side of the boat. To avoid electrical interference, run the cables away from any other electrical wires that may be present.

Pull the transducer wires through the drilled hole and attach each cable connector to the corresponding socket on the back of the unit. Both the cables and sockets are labeled to ensure proper connection.
