RV Parks for adults aged 55 and older accept younger visitors on a temporary basis but rent sites only to seniors. Texas has a wide selection of seniors-only RV parks in areas ranging from the Rio Grande Valley near the border with Mexico to lakes near Dallas. RV communities are perfect for seniors escaping winter weather or for year-round living.

Trade Winds RV Resort

Trade Winds RV Resort is a 55-and-older retirement community and RV resort in Mission. The resort is located minutes from the Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley. The region enjoys average temperatures of 61 degrees Fahrenheit in winter and 84 degrees in summer. All sites have full hookups, 30- or 50-amp electric service and concrete patios. Some oversized sites can accommodate large RVs. Park amenities include restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, mail room, office, heated pool, spa, pool hall, weekly farmer’s market and activities such as shuffleboard and campfire social hours. Rates in 2010 start at $29 per day, including electricity. The resort offers special rates for extended stays, which include garbage removal, water and sewer service, wireless Internet service and long-distance telephone calls. A maximum of two small- to medium-sized cats or dogs are permitted on each site.

Alamo Palms Mobile Home & RV Park

Alamo Palms Mobile Home and RV Park is a gated adult community located in Alamo in the Rio Grande Valley region. The region is known for its sunshine and temperate climate, which is perfect for snowbirds or year-round camping. The park has 352 sites for travel trailers and park models. Park amenities include storage areas, laundry facilities, restrooms with showers, garbage collection, two ballrooms, clubhouse with kitchen, library, swimming pool, heated spa, game room, tennis courts, exercise room and free wireless Internet service throughout the park. Nearby attractions include the Old Clock Museum, Port Isabel Historical Museum, Brownsville Historical Museum and the Iwo Jima Memorial in Harlingen. Rates in 2010 start at $32 per day; annual rates start at $2,160. Cable television, Internet service, garbage collection and use of all amenities are included. Pets are welcome. Adults younger than 55 and children are allowed to visit for a maximum of 2 weeks.

Lakeshore Seniors RV Resort

Lakeshore Seniors RV Resort is located on the shores of Cedar Creek Lake in Seven Points. The park is located approximately 55 miles south of the Dallas/Forth Worth metropolitan area. The park rents RV sites to adults aged 55 and older. There are approximately 60 RV sites, all of which accommodate RVs as long as 40 feet and with as many as three slide-outs. Park amenities include security service, garbage removal, fishing piers, boat ramp, community clubhouse and an on-site management team. Nearby activities include the Canton Flea Market, restaurants, churches, golf courses, movie theaters, a bowling alley and an arcade in Seven Points. Rates in 2010 start at $165 per month, plus metered electricity; there are no sites available for daily rental. Small pets and younger visitors are welcome.
