Giving your utility trailer the capacity to be used as a tent allows you to keep things dry while carrying them to the campsite and makes a great place to sleep when you arrive at the campsite. By using a tarp and rope, you can easily convert the trailer to an A-frame tent. This gives you a sleeping space and a way to keep your equipment dry to or from the campsite.
Stand a 6 foot long 2-by-4 vertically in the middle of the utility trailer's front side. Fasten it to the utility trailer's floor by gluing it into place with the epoxy glue.
Stand a 6 foot long 2-by-4 vertically in the middle of the utility trailer's rear side. Now fasten it to the utility trailer's floor by gluing it into place with the epoxy glue.
Use the drill and 1 inch drill bit to bore a 1 inch hole into the top end of both erect boards.
Fasten a 1 inch diameter eye bolt into the 1 inch hole on the top of each erect board by screwing the threaded ends of each of the eye bolts into the holes.
Attach one end of the 8 foot long rope to the eye bolt at the top of the erect board on the utility trailer's front side. Fasten the other end of the 8 foot long rope to the eye bolt at the top of the erect board on the utility trailer's rear side.
Hang the 8 foot long by 8 foot wide tarp on the 8 foot long rope. Be sure that the rope has divided the tarp into two 4 foot tall by 8 foot long sections.
Attach a 1 foot long rope through grommets at each of the tarp's corners. Fasten each corner of the tarp to the corners of the utility trailer. This opens the tarp to make a 4 foot high by 8 feet long tent standing over the utility trailer.
Fasten a 1 foot long rope through a grommet of the tarp's middle on each side. Now fasten the middle rope on each side to the middle of each side of the utility trailer. This will secure the tarp to the utility trailer. Now you have a completed A-frame tent standing over the utility trailer.
