When out on the lake, there are many types of bait that a fisherman can use to try and catch catfish. Some use worms while others use crawfish, but one of the better baits for catching catfish that many avid fishermen don't know about are hot dogs.

Cut the hot dogs into sections roughly 3/4 to 1 inch in length.

Keep the hot dogs in a plastic bag or sealed container to keep them fresh.

Thread them onto a fishing hook, preferably a live bait hook as you would any other type of bait.

Cast your rod with the hot dog-laced hook into the water and fish as you normally would.

Tip

  • Hot dogs are great for catfish but are almost useless for most other kinds of fish. Don't waste your time trying to catch carp with hot dogs.
