How to Set Up Your New PSE Bow

by Scott Mytyk

When you take your new PSE bow out of the box, you'll find a bunch of unassembled parts and pieces. Everything will need to be assembled before taking the bow to the range. Don't despair, this is a simple process and you'll be putting arrows into a target in no time.

Read the owner's manual and follow all the safety warnings.

Check out the bow to make sure all screws and bolts are tight and the strings, cables and cams are assembled correctly.

Set the draw weight by turning the limb bolts clockwise to increase the weight and counterclockwise to decrease the weight. Turn the bolts on both limbs the same amount.

Make sure the distance from the riser to the string is the same at the top and bottom. If it's not, turn the limb bolts in opposite directions until the measurement is the same.

Install an arrow rest. Follow the instructions for your particular rest and make sure the arrow is parallel to the alignment marks on the bow.

Add sights to the bow. Start by inserting a peep sight in the bowstring so it's level with your eye when you bring the bow to full draw.

Put the pin sight on the bow using the pre-drilled holes on the riser and use a level to make sure the sight is in the proper position. The short-distance pin should be at the top of the sight.

Add a stabilizer and sling to the front of the riser.

Check all the screws and fasteners a second time to make sure everything is tight.
